The 5th Shooting Academy ends: “At Valencia Basket we want to be the best shooting academy in Europe”

The fifth edition of the Shooting Academy in collaboration with Europrobasket comes to an end after a week in which the participants have had the opportunity to improve their shooting, one of the most important concepts in basketball. 90 young players from Spain and abroad worked under the guidance of Valencia Basket coaches led by Pascal Meurs.

 

The students have carried out exercises that have allowed them to improve their shooting mechanics and have had match sessions in which they have been able to put into practice what they had trained during the previous training sessions. The participants have been supervised at all times by coaches who have corrected their mistakes and helped them to perform the exercises correctly so that, during the season, they can continue to improve individually in the aspects they have been working on.

 

Meurs, director of the Camp, explained that "in Valencia Basket we want to be the best shooting academy in Europe. We have 90 kids from different countries very motivated to improve their shooting. In modern basketball shooting is the most important foundation in the game. It is a pleasure to see that, during free time, spending the whole day together, they speak in different languages to each other. It is an experience for everyone's life.".

 

Emre Bayazit, who arrived from the USA, shared that "what I like about this campus is the competitiveness when we play one-on-one, two-on-two or three-on-three. Being my first time I was a bit nervous coming to a new camp in a new country. I like it because they teach us how to play under control and the right mechanics to shoot.".


Pablo Sandford was one of the kids who took part in both the Skills Camp, held a fortnight ago, and then the Shooting Academy. He explained that in the first camp he was working on the dribbling and that both weeks "the coaches have been pushing me and have helped me a lot".

 

Claudia Montero, from a club here in Valencia, appreciated that in this type of camp "you learn to make new friends from other countries, you speak other languages like English. The coaches seem to me to be good people because they help you, but in a polite way. You learn more things than maybe you learn in your club.".
