Riera: “At the Skills Camp we put a lot of emphasis on learning to read and understand the game”

The Skills Camp continues to consolidate in L'Alqueria del Basket with the celebration of its third edition. This skills camp for boys and girls between 11 and 18 years old, organized in collaboration with Europrobasket, has been directed by the prestigious Spanish coach Lluís Riera and has left great sensations with almost 90 registered participants. A camp that attracts young basketball players from different parts of Spain, and even from abroad, to continue improving individually during the summer in the best facilities and with the best coaches.

 

Riera analysed about the camp that "the boys and girls have worked very well. They come to have fun learning basketball. The coaching staff is very strong and they make the camp grow as the days go by. The skills are the abilities that the player can have on the court, the way to learn how to use them. Not just motor skills, but knowing how to do an action, but knowing how to use it in the game. In the skills camp we put a lot of emphasis on knowing how to read and undersand the game. We do four sessions, one competition session and three sessions of almost an hour and a half, more than 6 hours of basketball a day and they continue to play during the breaks because they love basketball".

 

Francisco D'Agostino, who came from Palma de Mallorca, assesed that "the camp has helped me a lot. There are many coaches. You come and learn how to pass the ball, ball control, the shooting... There are a lot of people to meet".

 

Joan Barber, from Gandía, agreed that "in this camp I have learned a lot because there are people from other countries with good quality, the coaches are good, they teach you discipline. The teammates are good people and I have enjoyed being here.

 

Eve Axisa, one of the international participants from Malta, admitted that "the experience has been very good. The coaches have been amazing, they guided us very well in everything. The facilities are huge, the equipment we have is good and versatile. The resort we stayed at is very good. It's been an amazing experience, the best I've ever had on camp".
