Springer: “Valencia is highly respected throughout Europe”

The Skills Camp has returned this summer to L'Alqueria in the best possible way. This camp, organized in collaboration with Europrobasket, has been directed by the renowned American coach Tim Springer and has left great sensations with almost 90 participants. Many of the young participants came from outside Valencia and even from abroad.

 

At the camp, the youngsters improved their technique in the fundamentals of shooting, finishing and passing. According to Springer, the work focused on “attacking skills. Trying to turn those skills into game concepts that they can apply to what they do. For a kid, it's one thing to know how to shoot the ball and another thing to know when, where and how to use it in the game”. The coach reminds us that "the postseason is when players improve and the season is when teams improve. This period is when you find out what your strengths are and increase them and when you see your weaknesses and reduce them”.

 

Springer is a renowned American coach who has worked with NBA and WNBA teams and explains why he decided to run this camp: “Valencia is very respected throughout Europe. I was in Italy with a professional team last season and everyone there knows Valencia. It's even bigger now that I'm here. How they work with the kids from the beginning to professional and the model of the Culture of Effort. I think all this embrace what I think basketball should be. To care about basketball, to make it high level and competitive, but also to care about people and educate them to be successful in life and not only in basketball".

 

The camp was attended by players from all over the world. Emilio, born in Switzerland, grew up in the United States and has lived the last few years in Palma de Mallorca: “This basketball camp is a dream. I really like Coach Springer because he is a very good coach. The facilities are incredible, the center court, the hoops... and the kids and the coaches are very nice”. Maria, on the other hand, came from Almeria: “I wanted to come to this campus because Valencia Basket is a great club. The facilities are perfect and with a great coach like Tim it would be a great opportunity to learn things. I like that the coach is very attentive to us, always correcting us”.
