Millán Jiménez: “It's a dream that my name is in the 'Mur dels Somnis'”

The Riojan guard Millán Jiménez will be the fifth player to register his name in the Mur del Somnis (Wall of Dreams) since L'Alqueria del Basket was founded in September 2017. After Alejandro Vera, Ion Galarza, Lorena Segura and Guillem Ferrando, Millán will achieve something that is an aspiration for each player of the Youth Teams who wears the taronja shirt. After debuting this season with the VBC men's team in the R9 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague against Panathinaikos, having already completed his two years of training at Valencia Basket youth teams, Millán will fulfill that aspiration.

Being part of the Mur dels Somnis Millán considers it as “a dream. Everyone who plays in L’Alqueria del Basket has the dream of having their name there. It’s a pride that young people can look at me, that I can be a reference to get there. I will try to do my best to be a good example and that they can look at me”.
At a time like this, the player remembers his beginnings in the taronja club, in which he arrived in the summer of 2018, to play his first year as a U18 player. “From the U16, the Club invited me to a tournament, I was always comfortable with my teammates. I also came here to train and see these facilities and all the coaching staff you have to help you. It makes you feel like you are in a big club. Coming in and seeing all the facilities, it was quite easy to choose. Happy to be here and to be able to continue being part of Valencia Basket”.
Since he set foot in L'Alqueria del Basket, the native of Calahorra has felt very identified with the philosophy of the club and has applied it in each training session and in each game: “From the first moment they have transmitted to us that the effort and being at 100% every day is the most important thing, if not the most, we wear it on the shirt. You always have to be ready to help the men’s team, be available at any time to come here and train and continue to grow as a player and also as a person”.
This was demonstrated last season, when that effort paid off with its official debut on the court at AX Armani Exchange Milan. Now, after two years of training at L'Alqueria del Basket, and after playing against Panathinaikos, he has won the chance of being part of Mur dels Somnis. The act of inclusion of his name will be held when the health situation allows it.
Once this dream is achieved, it’s time to keep working, growing and improving with the Culture of Endeavour taken to the highest level, as it has done until now. Millán hopes that “I can do it well, keep doing it well and they can count on me and make a place for me in the first team. It won’t be easy, because every time they make a better team and aspire to more. If the youth teams continue like this and the players who come out are better and better, they will have to open a gap there and fight for a place in the men’s team”.
