Burgos: "The help of the entire coaching staff is essential for the team to grow"

The training sessions for coaches of the Basketball Chair with the University of València and the support of Caixabank continue to be held in L'Alqueria del Basket. The first of the two sessions that will take place during the month of May, the eighth of the season, already took place. The protagonists, Rubén Burgos and Santi Pérez. This clinic -on-site and online- has been followed by coaches, as always from the Valencian Community, but also from practically every corner of Spain such as Madrid, Oviedo, Pamplona or Ceuta and some from abroad such as Amsterdam or Cape Verde.

 

Burgos and Pérez are head coach and assistant coach, respectively, of the Valencia Basket women's team, with which they have won the EuroCup Women and achieved the runner-up positions in the Copa de la Reina and LF Endesa. The coaches showed the registered coaches the "Game Preparation. Proposal of week and exercises", along with Laura Lago and Andreas Farakos, who complete the coaching staff of the taronja team.

 

About the clinic, with all the staff, Burgos explained that "if the idea is that they see a week of team work, we all participate. It is essential the help of Santi, Andreas and Laura, so that over the years the team has always grown individually and collectively and for me they are my greatest support and my inspiration on a daily basis to see how they work". The coach is already a regular every season in the training days: "I try to help where we can as staff and so far I have enjoyed them a lot from the stands and watching teammates who have passed through here at a very high level and have contributed a lot".

 

Perez agreed with Burgos in this aspect: "It is an exciting project. We have followed all the conferences and the project that Valencia Basket has during the pandemic, making an effort for coaches to continue their training. Also adding the online modality that has become so necessary".


In addition, the assistant coach emphasized the fact of participating together with the head coach: "If Ruben has a quality is to make the staff he works with feel valuable and motivate them to give the best of themselves.
