U14 women's team starts the dream of the Minicopa in Zaragoza

Valencia Basket's U14 womens team heads to Zaragoza to start the adventure of the Minicopa LF Endesa from tomorrow, which is played in parallel to a Copa de la Reina that starts today at the Pabellón Príncipe Felipe. A competition in which the U14 teams of all the clubs that make up the LF Endesa, in addition to the Zaragoza clubs El Olivar and Stadium Casablanca, will participate. Valencia Basket won in Salamanca the edition held in 2020.

 

Groups

The taronja are placed in group A, which is completed by CB El Olivar, Movistar Estudiantes and SPAR Gran Canaria. Group B is formed by Casademont Zaragoza, Innova-tsn Leganés, Comeplastic Araski and Tenerife. Group C is formed by Bàsquet Girona Uni, Sedis La Lola, Barça CBS and Lointek Gernika. Group D is closed by Perfumerías Avenida, IDK Euskotren, Stadium Casablanca and Hozono Global Jairis.

 

Competition system

On Friday all the matches of the group phase will be played, a total of three practically consecutive matches at straight time. The first of each group will qualify for the semifinals and the rest of the participating teams will play each other to complete the rest of the positions in the tournament. These matches will be played on Saturday morning. The Final will take place at the Príncipe Felipe Pavilion on Sunday 2 at 12:30h.

Audience

The attendance to all the games of the Minicopa LF Endesa in the three pavilions is free until full capacity is reached.

 

Precedents

Since the promotion of the Valencia Basket women's team to the LF Endesa, the taronja U14 team has had the opportunity to participate in the Minicopa three times. The teams taking part in this tournament are all the children's teams of the clubs that make up the LF Endesa. The first participation was in Vitoria in 2019 in which the team coached by Laura Cucarella came in 6th position. A year later, in Salamanca 2020, the Valencia Basket that was under the command of Laura Lago lifted the first Minicopa title in the history of the Club. A team that included a very young Awa Fam, who only two years later was already playing with the professional team in the Copa de la Reina. Two seasons ago it was not held because of the Covid-19. Last season, which took place in L'Alqueria, Laura Cucarella's team finished sixth.
