Valencia Basket strengthens its international commitment

Valencia Basket continues to export its training model through its Academy in Greece. A total of 40 young Greek women enjoyed a high-level basketball experience from 3 to 6 July at the Saint Thomas Indoor Hall facilities, in collaboration with Maroussi BC.


This new campus served as the grand finale to the Taronja Academy's tour of Greece, after visiting a total of eight cities: Serres, Heraklion, Thiva, Samos, Kiato, Kalamata, Pallini and, now, Marousi. This tour has allowed Valencia Basket's working methodology to be brought to promising young players in the country through basketball and the values of the Culture of Endeavour.


The technical direction of the camp was led by Ángel Sánchez, coach of the Taronja youth team, with the collaboration of Panagiotis Vasilopoulos, Academy ambassador in Greece and former international player. The technical staff was completed by coaches Klearchos Panousis, Eleni Kalaitzaki, Alexandros Galis and Diamantis Filinis, under the coordination of Giorgos Katsarelias, technical director of the Gymnastics Club of Maroussi Academy.


For four days, the players worked in double sessions with a demanding but enriching methodology. The high level demonstrated by the participants led the coaching staff to select five players born in 2009 and 2010 to be part of a very special expedition: they will travel to Valencia next September to enjoy a training experience at L'Alqueria del Basket.


Panagiotis Vasilopoulos highlighted the ambition of the young participants: ‘During these days in Maroussi, I have seen great determination in every training session. The level has been very high and it motivates us to continue developing the programme’.


For his part, Ángel Sánchez assessed the experience as follows: "This type of action allows us to transfer the work we do every day at Valencia Basket to other parts of Europe. It has been a short but very intense and enriching camp."


Giorgos Katsarelias also emphasised the value of the project: ‘We are very proud to share this type of initiative with a club like Valencia Basket. It has been a new and very motivating experience for our players.’


This initiative is part of the Valencia Basket Academy's international training project, which aims to share the club's methodology with young people from all over the world, promote the development of talent from an early age and reinforce its commitment to the comprehensive training of players. Through camps, collaborations and experiences such as this, Valencia Basket continues to expand its impact beyond our borders, consolidating an educational model based on sporting excellence and the values of the Culture of Endeavour.
