Mirembe Twehamye will have her name inscribed on the Mur dels Somnis

Since the inauguration of L'Alqueria del Basket, the Mur dels Somnis has been a very special part of it. Located at the main access to the main court, it is a list of the players who have made their debut with the Valencia Basket first team in the highest national category or in an international game, after having completed in the Club's youth teams the two years prior to their debut.

 

Three male players (Álex Vera, Ion Galarza, Guillem Ferrando) and one female player (Lorena Segura) were able to join their names to the illustrious ones that already appeared in the Mur with the creation of the facility, which is an example for all the members of the European basketball training house. Millán Jiménez, Claudia Contell, Paula García, Alejandro Bellver, Awa Fam, Elba Garfella -in previous seasons- and Lucas Marí this season, have also met the requirements and will soon be included in the Mur.

 

The same happens now with Mirembe Twehamye, who will join these names. The 16-year-old outside player made her debut in Day 24 of the Endesa Women's League against Tenerife. She played a total of 7 minutes in which she handed out an assist. In this way, Mirembe will be the twelfth player to join the Mur dels Somnis de L'Alqueria since its inception.

 

Requirements to join Mur dels Somnis

The requirements to be fulfilled by a Valencia Basket player to obtain the recognition in the Mur, are the following:

 

  • The Club understands as training categories the U14, U16 and U18 stages.
  • The debut must take place in an official competition game, European or national at the highest level, with the Professional Team (friendly matches are not taken into account).
  • The player must have played in the Club's youth categories in the two years prior to his/her debut with the Professional Team.
  • In the event that a player debuts without having completed the two years in a youth team and continues training at the Club until he/she completes them later, it will be his/her participation in official competition after that time that will be taken into account for inclusion in the Mur dels Somnis.

 

About Mirembe Twehamye

Mirembe, 16 years old player born on October 8, 2006 in Valencia, is this season in the U18 A female team. She took her first steps in the club Jovens Almàssera and came to Valencia Basket in the benjamin category, being part of all youth categories until the present. The outside player shares a successful generation with Awa Fam, having achieved great success. Mirembe lifted the first and only Minicopa in taronja history with the U14 team in 2020 and the Spanish U16Championship in 2022.


As for the selections, with the Valencian Community team she achieved the Spanish Championship last season along with her teammates Awa Fam, Julia Sarrió, Lucía Rivas, Alba Caballero and María Sánchez. Subsequently, in the summer of 2022, she was called with the U16 Spanish national team with which she won the silver medal at the European Championship, this time along with Awa Fam and Lucía Rivas.
