Casadevall: "The promotion to LEB Plata ratifies the previous work with this generation"

The Valencia Basket's reserve team got last week the promotion to LEB Plata. A goal completed with a good base of players formed in L'Alqueria del Basket from a generation that already shined in U18 winning the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Valencia in the 2018-19 season. The coordinator of the men's youth teams Andreu Casadevall values this success.

 

He began by commenting that "the promotion of EBA to LEB Plata means for us to ratify the work that already began some time ago, prior to the creation of L'Alqueria, and that was ratified, obtaining the first place in the Valencia phase in the ANGT of this generation. Now it has culminated with the promotion to LEB Plata". Millán Jiménez, Guillem Ferrando, Iván Cubero, Alejandro Ortega and Alejandro Bellver are part of that generation that won the 2018-19 EB ANGT Valencia qualifier and has also been part of the promotion team.

 

Casadevall stresses that "that recognition to the work of our coaches during all this time, because this generation has passed through different hands. That means that this season has been endorsed when it is their first senior year for many of them and some second, have been able to demonstrate that it is a generation that aims high and we can be proud in L'Alqueria that we have achieved this.

 

Behind this success there is a great work in training, but also in the daily effort of the team: "Starting with the coaching staff headed by Angel Cepeda with his assistants and strength and conditioning coach. I have to admit that physically we arrived very well. Then the team has been very united, they have worked very well throughout the year", analyzes the coordinator.

 

Casadevall explains the next steps after the promotion: "In the club, everything that is achieved has to be endorsed afterwards and given content. We will have to see what approach we give to our LEB Plata team and try to continue to maintain all those things that make our players grow. It is clear that the work that is being done now in L'Alqueria begins to bear fruit, but we can not stop because L'Alqueria has to try to get players for the professional teams. This is a small step we have taken. We must be patient. We must continue to work with the generations that come after".

 

This year the team has earned that promotion and indeed the Club is going to do it. The coordinator maintains that "we have to do it so that our players see that, with the effort, the work and above all with the dedication and the effort they end up achieving objectives that perhaps we had not set ourselves but that the growth of the players based on work has made us reach this goal. A goal that does not have to stop here. Now the difficult thing will be to maintain this LEB Plata project because it is a category where many professional and veteran teams play and we will try to go with the maximum number of players of the house that we have".

 

From the EBA League Final Phase to the ANGT finals in Valencia in June.
